Resize the disk of a Fresh-Start desktop in a course

If an existing Fresh Start machine lacks sufficient disk space, you can easily resize it to increase the disk space
  1. First, you need to stop the Fresh-Start machine
  2. Then Clone & Resize to Standalone as shown below (create an organisation if you haven’t already) Clone - Resize to Standalone Desktop
  3. At this point, increase the disk size as needed, and submit
  4. Click the 'Standalones' link at the top of the page to locate it and confirm it is there
  5. Remove the Fresh-Start machine from the course using the 'Delete' button
  6. Click the 'Create Fresh-Start from my Standalone' button

  7. In the 'Create from Standalone' dialogue, you can also choose to increase the disk size if you didn’t do this in the earlier step

  8. Add an Alias name, if required, and then click the 'Create Desktop' button
  9. For Standard DaDesktop Linux and Windows OS templates, the OS will be extended/grown automatically. NB: AlmaLinux standard templates configure their default partitions differently, which requires additional manual steps as shown below.
  10. For Custom OS Templates, the automatic extension of the partition(s) may need to be done manually; steps to follow are shown below.

 

For Custom OS Templates and AlmaLinux standard templates, please follow the steps below to extend the partition(s)
  1. Follow the instructions to resize your desktop partitions

    - Open terminal/cmd 
    - Type the commands below

    1.  Ubuntu & Debian

    2.  AlmaLinux / CentOS
    CentOS Resizing Partition with LVM


    3. Windows 10 Pro
    Windows Disk Manager
    Resize Windows Partition
