Building Standalone Desktops
To get started with creating Standalone Desktops, follow these steps:
- Select 'Standalones' from the top menu
- Choose 'Create New Standalone' Desktop
- A dialogue box appears as shown below

Here's what each field means:
-
GPU Model
Pick the GPU and its type if needed. Checking the 'Display GPU enabled servers' will only show servers that have GPUs available -
Datacentre / Server
Choose the datacentre region and server that's nearest to where you are in Brazil -
OS to clone from
Several different Operating Systems are on offer.

When a template is marked 'Copy Required', it means the template is ready but must be copied to that server before you can use it. Typically, only Windows OS might involve extra charges. -
Include Custom, RC, and Old Versions
DaDesktop keeps OS templates current; however, if you run into issues with the latest version, you can try an older one
-
Memory
This sets the memory limit for the desktops. Keep in mind that your allocation is restricted by the server's capacity. Each server may have different memory limits. Should you need to raise these limits, reach out via Support Chat. -
Label
You can enter an Alias to simplify the name for your standalone.
OS Template to Clone from
There are many choices when picking which Operating System Template to base your desktop on.
You can opt for Windows or various Linux distributions like Ubuntu, Debian, Almalinux, and more.
A pre-built template, usually identified by a version number such as V51, is available for use.
Additionally, we now offer the option to build fully updated Linux templates. The 'Build New' Linux templates rely on a different build process that uses the Linux sources along with a script to add the necessary DaDesktop customizations. Consequently, the template remains completely up to date, secure, and simpler to deploy and maintain.
Building OS Template
After you've chosen the desired template, a pop-up like the one below appears.
Click 'Start Building'
Your standalone will now be constructed. Do note that the build might take more than 30 seconds, and if it seems to freeze, just give it a bit more time.
Built Template Now Available
Once the template is built, you can adjust any settings as needed, then click 'Save and Create Desktop'.
Your Standalone is now being created, which usually only takes a few moments—far quicker than building the template.
Your new Standalone is ready. In the example below it's named 'julian-6iqm', but you could have given it a more descriptive label if you preferred.
Click 'Connect' to launch and connect to the Standalone machine.
