Bare Metal PC Farm
In addition to cloud-based options, DaDesktop offers direct access to bare metal physical desktops or servers.
This setup assigns one physical machine per participant and has proven useful in scenarios like:
- Access to an entire server without virtualization, needed for performance or licensing compliance (e.g., ONAP, OpenStack)
- Use of non-virtualizable hardware, such as certain GPUs, Mellanox cards (when firmware modifications are part of the training), or other networking gear.
Moreover, this approach can be integrated into an existing physical classroom with only minor adjustments, letting the instructor set up the room remotely.
The same cloud desktop image can be directly deployed onto participants' physical machines.
Onsite deployment requirements
To deploy this solution onsite in Brazil, you'll need to purchase physical control cables (known as ddnexus), costing roughly 100 USD per desktop.
Give it a go by choosing Metal PC when creating a Standalone or Fresh-start desktop.
